First things first:
New Songs!

- Without You
- Like All
- Heart in the Head

A lot has happened since the last news entry. Bad News - Some personal issues have come up that have lead to the loss of our our lead guitarist and bassist. It's been challenging to compensate and sound full with a three piece band, but for the most part we've been successful. Good News - Diligence paid off and we've recorded three new songs as the reformed Made of People. Employing the engineering of Russell Muller (www.tarktones.com) we laid down three songs (Without You, Like All, and Heart in the Head) As inevitably predicted, we've turned to the dark side of Myspace (www.myspace.com/madeoftheband). It's actually not as terrible as I had originally imagined. On another note,  A new, better, more professional (hopefully) site design is in the works. Stick around, new content is around the bend.

Chemical Smile.
(August 14th, 2006 by Made of Patrick)
Last night me (Patrick) and Brittany went into the Conservatory with Jeremy. Apart from the rest of the band, we did an acoustic take of a song in our set, Chemical Smile. Despite some awkward fading and editing to remove some obnoxious counting off, I'm pretty happy and satisfied with the outcome. It is also worth mentioning we shared a session with Matt and Robert Fowler, the lead singer and the Manager/Slave Driver for We Are They, respectively. Check them out at http://www.watmusic.com/. Hopefully they will spam for us, too, even though I'm sure at this time our news entries fall on deaf ears.

The Results (partially).
(July 19th, 2006 by Made of Patrick)
On Friday, June 23rd, Brittany, Myself (Patrick), Josh, Nate and Justin went into a studio at the Conservatory to record four songs. Although plagued with juvenile mistakes and mishaps, we worked through the night, charged with the spirit of, 'hey, we're finally getting this shit out the garage'. And as far as I'm concerned, it sounded pretty damned good. I found it inspiring, hearing our songs being played back in the console room time after time... two things really occurred to me, 1) how close to professionally-sounding, original music we make, and 2) how atrocious the garage makes us sound compared to the acoustically crafted studio environments. Sadly, however, we didn't accomplish our goal... which either could have been a miscalculation of how long the process of four songs would take... or we could have just been slow and unprepared (probably both).

So, after a long night (the session ran from 7pm to 3 in the morning) we came out with a multi-tracked version of Reckless Day, and a rough, entirely live cut of Monster. Which is fine, because despite some minor errors, Reckless Day is as gorgeous as I could have hoped for, and Monster will probably sound just as good when Jeremy (former band member / current producer) gets around to mixing and mastering it. Nothing lost, quite a bit gained.

The site's files have moved again because I needed more room for the band's new Mp3s, and Angelfire site hosting sucks. Yahoo offers 5 gigs and loads of extras for about 12 dollars a month. Angelfire, on the other hand, offers about 40 megs for that price. My love for Yahoo increases still (I've had an e-mail account and web site with them for almost 12 years, and they've never done anything sinister, like cleaning out my saved e-mails or files, or making me re-subscribe, even with months, almost years of inactivity). Not to blab about geeky, non-musical stuff, but to any webmasters out there, compare the difference for yourself!

Thanks to all the people who have listened and supported us thus far (you know who you are). More good stuff is coming for sure!

Upcoming Demo Recording (!)
(June 18th, 2006 by Made of Patrick)
After much runaround, drama and such nonsense, we finally booked time at the Conservatory this friday from 7pm-3am. We plan to record four songs: Monster, Like a Chair, Heart in the Head and Oh Reckless Day. The anticipation is overwhelming, as is the fear that our three year struggle with motivation, songwriting and band synergy will be for people to judge as a 10 minute excursion of musical garbage. I have faith that our skill and talent will project, but will it be quality enough for venue owners, and ensuring us a ticket into the local music scene? OF course, if we scrap it, we can just book some more time... but still, I can't help feeling importance in our first real encounter with putting our songs down.

What's Going On?
(April 1st, 2006 by Made of Patrick)
A lot of things have transpired over the course of the last six months (the time from the last update *sighs*). The whole ordeal at The Sets was destroyed about two or three weeks (or two or three performances) into the gig. The problem? We were just filling space at Open Mic nights, and after our parents and friends showed up for the first night,  we didn't have any sort of draw. Depressing, really, but the problem was being so ambitious with showing up and playing our stuff, and having no drive to petition any sort of advertisement to grab an audience. A lesson learned, but the problem remains: without a demo (the reason we were playing Open Mics instead of a 'real' gig in the first place), we don't have the ability to get a regular gig at a regular venue.... but is it worth it to spend money and time advertising for an obscure, almost empty bar's Open Mic stage? Is it even possible for a no-name band to attract any sort of interest without the prerequisite crowd of the venue? It doesn't matter, thankfully...

...Because after a couple years out of high school, former Made of People keyboardist/webmaster and long time friend Jeremy Dobbins decided what he really wanted to do with his time - become a sound engineer. Thankfully one of the most prestigious schools for that sort of deal (the Conservatory for Recording Arts) is a rocks throw away. And conveniently...hell, it's a godsend.... we'll have recording time in a big-time fancy studio that the students of the Conservatory learn and practice on over their education. Now it seems we won't have to drop $5,000 on equipment before we can record our own demo! The future looks bright.

On a less spectacular, fat-kid-running-a-marathon-ish note, Jeremy's one year lease on the www.madeofpeple.com domain name expired, and I picked it up through Yahoo! again to resurrect the site. Not that anybody noticed (refer to the above paragraphs for detailed descriptions of our unpopularity).

P.S.: Listen to this song. It's good for you.

In The Works.
(October 1st, 2005 by Made of Patrick)
Yep, we're still around, and we're still working at the whole 'music' thing. We've made some fair progress since the last update. We've decided to record our demo using our own equipment, so we priced about $5,000 dollars worth of gear to save up for (I estimate that we have about a 1/5th of that saved between the members).

Surprisingly,  We've started playing out (if one open-mike gig counts) and we have a regular home Monday nights at The Sets. Hopefully this will be our starting point to earn a following through good shows and crafty advertising, both requiring time and hard work. Dreams aren't cheap, eh? On a final note, Brittany (our lead singer) laid down some vocals over Undertow, making it a complete song (although sloppily done and recorded using unprofessional means) minus a bassline. Listen to it... or die.

…Not So Much, Now.
(March 8th, 2005 by Made of Patrick)
Wow. So much has happened in the (SIX!) months of silence on the Made of People site. The regular lineup is now Justin and Josh Pohlsander, Nate Humphreys, Brittany Fiore, and Patrick Working. Jeremy and Todd slipped away from the band to pursue their own endeavors. With an excellent band assembled and a practice session every week, we’re making good progress.

We haven’t been doing much that we can show off in our six month absence from cyberspace, but we have one piece of music to show: A rerecording of Lake of Pity (renamed Undertow), featuring Myself on rhythm guitar, Nate on lead and Justin beating the drums. It’s high production value, considering it was recorded with a crazy array of PA equipment straight into my computer’s soundcard. Leave feedback on the forums and tell us what you think …we’re desperate.. really, really desperate….

Because We Care!
(September 22nd, 2004 by Made of Patrick)
Well, not really. It's been a while since I've last spoken of the Vietnam War-Drama that is  Made of Patrick (and, you know, other People). Tonight I intend to reveal the secrets you've all been waiting for, knowing whole-heartedly that I will probably mess up the details.

First of all, the band-mobile is dead. Yes, by the slimy tentacle of some sick and twisted fate-changing octopus, the van's transmission keeled over AFTER I got my drivers license, AFTER an hour and a half drive to my house, about a mile from the driveway. I wish I had some mystical Japanese fisherman right about now. So, in short, the band-mobile is immobile (yes, that was an intentional pun). So, about 600-900 dollars before I have personal transportation.

On a happier note, we are auditioning for a lead singer this Tuesday. The throat-shakin' femme (*gasp* a female lead singer!) goes by Brittany. Hopefully her voice will be an asset to our continually developing grunge-classic rock-alternative-indie-chiptune-inspired vibe. Oh, yeah, our track list is growing, our efforts have increased to regular practice (for Nate, Myself and the Loud One) and we STILL are kicking ass, can you believe it!? Well, can ya? *crickets chirp* Oh well. Shelly, this one's for you.... Stoopie.

...We Chase The Path of Time.

Tonight I worked on my script, went out with my friends, Richard and Josh, and saw the kung-fu flick Hero. It was a good night! But enough about me, listen to this new song I wrote, titled Avalon.

It Rained Today.

Yeah... where I live, It doesn't do that often. If you live in Seattle or Washington State in general, that might seem like a redundant title. Hello again, Just doing some maintenance work by adding a brand-new song. Also, I've dug up an old classic from the hidden archives of my hard drive. Go to the Music Page or click on the links below to see what your dog has been talking about!

I Saw The Scene Unfold.
(August 25th ,2004 by Made of Patrick)
Hello, MoP fans (if you exist), I've recorded a little acoustic piece to add to the song list. It's the base of a new tune we've been working on with the band. It sounds fresh and different from our other stuff, so check it out here (or in the Music Page). On a side note :

    "They blew up Albertsons!"
    "but...It was my store..."
    ”Now it’s personal."

The Empire Strikes Back.

For your listening pleasure I've added a fun MP3 I wrote to the Music Page. This post is dedicated to Scotland, where anyone who can read the label on the bottle is legally obligated to drink. Download Lost Cause. Or Die.

Stuff. It's What You...Listen To?
(August 9th ,2004 by Made of Patrick)
Howdy. It's been a while since the Patman cometh. Jeremy's been keeping the site alive, but we've been pretty lazy concerning our band and the music. So, I've decided to post up more of the Midi's I've been cooking in my musical pot for the last year or so, for you whippersnappers that appreciate the art form. Stuff's been cleaned up, descriptions have been written, and little things here and there have been tweaked. But mostly, check out the Music Page for some new material.

New Forum.
(August 5th ,2004 by Jeremy)
Hey guys, I'm not sure if you know or not, but dream-tools (the website we hosted our forum from) has committed suicide therefore our old forum is no more. I took the liberty to create anew one and it is now up for all to see. "And the townspeople said: yey."

Wow...Another update.
(June 25th, 2004 by Jeremy)
Wow, a lot of time has passed since the last update, and there have been some good changes in the band, for one we have a regular income to squander on equipment and stuff, but most important of all, we're practicing regularly and have got a little recording done! I'm posting our "First Recording" on the Music page. It's kind of crapy, and has no drums, well, because we left the drum mic off, but we all say it has "character" stay tuned I guess for more (and hopefully) better recordings (hopefully) updated Fridays.
PEACE.

Made of Dead People?
(April 13, 2004 By Jeremy)
Sup foo's? Despite popular belief, we're not really dead, we promise. anyway despite the obvious neglect to the site we have been able to get a lot done as a band, we have some new good equipment, so keep checking the music section for the recordings of some of our new material. Also welcome our newest member: Nate who is playing Lead Guitar. *dramatic narration* and then the mighty NATE appeared, and with his Mighty Melodies of Justice, chaos was once again apprehended in the land of the band.

Still Alive? Survey says... YES!
(Feb.17, 2004 by Made of Patrick)
Hi! Made of Patrick here, just keeping things fresh with some new music, found on the music page. One new lyric, a little bit of cleaning up, and some descriptions of our music by Jeremy finish this update off. Enjoy!

Party like it's 2004.
(Jan. 5, 2004 by Made of Patrick)
Happy Holidays, folks. I'm here is to usher in the new year with a janitorial update. Links were stupid and opened in the little box instead of a new window, that's been fixed. A couple MP3 tunes have been added to the Music section. Some new Lyrics, a bit of reorganization here and there, and voila. Enjoy the new material!

More Content, More Sexy.
(Dec. 21, 2003 by Made of Patrick)
All in a nights work. Even though not a day has passed, I still feel like making a news entry about the grand arrival of some more goodness for the site. Lyrics from both Justin and Patrick have been added, and some more musical goodness has been thrown on for good measure. Merry Christmas!

Howdy, Folks.
(Dec. 21, 2003 by Made of Patrick)
Well, it's been a fun struggle getting here. Made of People is on the net, and in a sexy-big way. With the income of Jeremy, America's favorite Albertson's Employee, we have purchased a domain name at www.madeofpeople.com. I figured I'd make a purdy site design to go along with such a noble update, pushing us at least twenty feet above and beyond our previous Geocities crap-fests. We're Made of People, in case you didn't know. We're a bunch of friends in our mid to late teens trying to take over the world, the only legal way we know how - with music. For more information about the band and our musical explorations and embellishments, explore around on the page. If you find something noteworthy,  write us an e-mail with your best grammar giving us the yea or nay. Feel free to give us a line if you have any questions, comments, concerns. If you want to have us play at your establishment, click on the "Book Us" link to your left. We're always looking to do free live gigs anywhere in the Valley that will have us. Thanks for visiting Made of People, watch the door on the way out.
